Tom Brady was victorious six times as a New England Patriot, during the 2001, 2003, 2004, 2014, 2016, and 2018 seasons. While he is leading in the NFL as the quarterback with the most superbowl wins, this isn’t enough for Brady. After a depressing 2019 football season with the Patriots, (losing in the first playoff game), leading many to believe that his career had ended, Brady made the decision to continue playing, but with a different team. Now, in the 2020 NFL season, Brady made it to the Super Bowl yet again with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, ending with an impressive 14-5 record. However, Brady went against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs, which was definitely not an easy matchup for Brady considering that they had lost previously to Kansas City during a regular season game. Brady went to Super Bowl LV as the underdog; no one expected him to win, even if you were rooting for him.
Still, Tom Brady is the GOAT (greatest of all time), and while playing amazingly, he managed his 7th Super Bowl win on Sunday, February 7. Throughout the game, as well as Brady’s entire season with Tampa Bay, Patriots fans were presented with a question: should we root for Brady, the player that we love and who gave us six prior wins? Or do we root for Kansas City because of Brady’s betrayal?
Despite his disloyalty to the team that groomed him into a star player, deep down, we love Brady and want to see him succeed. Besides, who doesn’t love watching the underdog win? Seeing Brady celebrate with his family after the game was fun to watch for all New Englanders because it still felt like he was a Patriot. Patrick Mahomes is a budding star with years of potential wins ahead of him at 25 years old, while Brady is advancing in age at 43 years, being one of the oldest players currently in the NFL. Yet it was proved that years of experience does beat youth when Tampa Bay beat Kansas City.
All in all, Brady is a fantastic player that will be remembered for many years to come in the Hall of Fame, and he spent most of his years with the Pats. Due to this, Patriots fans should root for him now and in future seasons. As for the Patriots future, let’s hope that we get some new players and the team starts to improve immensely for upcoming years!
